The Brita On Tap faucet filter, the most effective BRITA filter, may help avoid certain health risks like cancer, certain parasitic illnesses such as cryptosporidiosis and giardiasis, as well as kidney and liver damage and anemia by reducing such impurities as cryptosporidium, giardia, lead, asbestos, and benzene that may be present in your tap water. It also reduces the following harmful herbicides and pesticides. The On Tap faucet filter also eliminates bad tastes and odors by reducing chlorine (taste and odor) and hydrogen sulfide. Brita On Tap faucet filters should be replaced every 100 gallons or every four months, whichever comes first. If youre unsure how long its been, not to worry--the Brita On Tap faucet filter has a built in filter replacement indicator that flashes red when you need a new filter.

 "Sleek design, not long-lasting" 2009-03-08
By Trevor Burnham (Ann Arbor, MI)
First off, let me point out that it's a bit frivolous to review these replacement filters. If you already bought Brita On Tap, then you have just two choices for new filters: white or chrome. For my kitchen, I prefer chrome.

These filters are expensive and they only seem to last a few weeks before the green light turns amber, then red, indicating that a replacement is needed. Don't trust the light. Try removing the filter cartridge, shaking it, and replacing it. In my experience, this almost always makes the light turn green again. These should each last months of casual use (~1 gallon per day), not weeks.

"They gave me a full refund....." 2009-02-23
By A. Pose (El Paso, TX)
I ordered this product and it was lost in the mail. When I contacted the vendor they were helpful, courteous and very willing to resolve the situation with a full refund. I have this item for a few years now. The quality of the Brita filters is beginning to wane. You have to change them more often now, once the flow of water starts to slow, its time to change the filter. Before, you could use them for a whole year before you needed to change the filter. Still, its the least expensive and the water quality is great.

Brita on Tap Water Filter. *****

My city water wasn't fit to drink or cook with, the clorine taste and smell was so strong. Now with my Brita Water filter it is really quite good. The treated portion slows the water flow down quite a bit, but for better tasting water like it is, it could be twice as slow and I would still love it.. Really my water tasted terrible before, but now it tastes better than the bottled stuff you buy. The price was quite reasonable and as a matter of fact I bought 2 of the chrome replacement filters at the same time..

"For clean tap water, a MUST!" 2009-05-20
By Dawn (NY)
Tap water, in my opinion is not safe. For years, I have used water coolers and filters. I fins the Brita filter attached to the faucet the most inexpensive way to keep my family healthy since all we drink is water and I used this to cook with as well. It is easy to use and the refill filters are reasonably priced in the twin pacs....it gives or months of clean non chlroinated water...I recommend this filter system highly.

 "works well, lasts long" 2008-11-25
By Wisefish (Texas)
This filter makes our yucky city water taste so much better! And the filter lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. Our water has a lot of minerals in it and I figured the filter would clog up quickly, but it lasted about three months!

These filters are much cheaper than buying bottled water, are much more convenient, and there's less waste.

 "WHO'S TO KNOW??!!" 2009-07-11
By TOMBOY (FRESNO, CA USA)
SINCE WE DON'T KNOW FOR SURE HOW WELL THIS PRODUCT PERFORMS (WITHOUT SOME SORT OF PESKY TESTING) THIS PRODUCT BECOMES SOMETHING YOU PURCHASE BASED ON FAITH THAT THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS & CLAIMS ARE ACCURATE & TRUE. I DID NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN THE "FEEL" OF THE WATER IN MY SHOWER WHEN I FIRST INSTALLED THE FILTER. OTHER THAN THAT, I HAVE NO PROOF IT DOES THE JOB THE MANUFACTURER CLAIMS IT'S DOES. IN AN EFFORT TO DO SOMETHING GOOD & HEALTHFUL FOR YOURSELF, I GUESS THAT SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO ACT ON FAITH!!

 "Filter for Showerhead" 2009-06-27
By ReviewerA
Included was a calendar sticker to help remind you when to change filter out (nice feature). A person should probably stock up on these in order to have one available every six-months. Good product in conjunction with the Culligan showerheads. Had to shake-off just a little filter residue before installing but this "settling" is probably normal. Easy install. Easy use. Good performance so far.

"Good, but spending the money on a whole-house softener is probably better..." 2009-05-23
By M. Ram (San Jose, CA, USA)
I bought the Culligan faucet kit a few weeks ago. Our house has always had REALLY hard water, and in lieu of buying a softener to hook up in the garage, I decided to check this out first. I'll give it that the filtration is having an effect - my arms and face aren't as dry as they used to be, and and some of the problems I had (like a rash on the back of my neck) have faded a bit. There is a strong carbon smell to the water (similar to what you'd smell while replacing an aquarium filter), but it's tolerable.

Somehow, I was hoping for more. I still have to put on a lot of lotion (hands and arms) and aloe vera gel (on my face and head) after showering, and my legs and feet are still dry. I'm probably going to go ahead and get a whole house softener, as it will affect all the taps, and salt is cheaper to buy than these replacement filters.

"Save yourself some money doing this process I discovered today!" 2009-05-16
By J. M. (New York, NY, USA)
I love the showerhead but was not happy at how fast the filter was clogging. I was spending $15 about every 6 weeks or so. It was not just the money but the way the water dripped on my head with no pressure that was giving me a bad start to my day. So this afternoon I wakeup and I remembered something from Aviation school: It is cheaper to repair than to replace. So enthusiastically I went over to the bathroom and turned on the shower, drip drip drip, barely anything. So I removed the filter and shook it, solid as a rock. I took it over to the kitchen sink and let it soak for a few minutes under the steaming hot water on each side. Then I took the filter and banged it over and over on the kitchen floor, watching the brown muddy water and dirty particles flying out of it with each pounding. Do this for both sides. I shook the filter and it was beginning to loosen up, I could feel the carbon particles moving around a bit but still clogged so I repeated the process. I put it back in the showerhead to test if my procedure worked and sure enough it did! It was like brand new again. The shower curtain was waving around like there was a small tornado in my tub. To make it nice and fresh I am going over to the local drugstore and purchasing CLR (Calcium, Lime & Rust Remover). Soak the filter in this and it should remove all the nasty brown stuff and make it nice and clean. Hope this helps some people save some money. The economy is tough and we need to stretch our dollars.

 "Good Pitcher, Great Value" 2009-07-09
By Cameron Harr (Draper, UT USA)
For the $10 or so I spent on this, it is a great deal and the pitcher works great. I live in an area with highly-chlorinated water that wasn't very good. I got the Brita going pretty quickly and the water no longer has any chlorine flavor. It's not the most flavorful water I've had, but it took out the bad stuff, which is what I wanted.

"Practical size, but flimsy, leaky top" 2009-06-27
By A. Barton (Marin County, CA)
The good: fits is small places, slim line. Pretty easy to carry. Reasonably economical, and good tasting water from the filter.

The bad: Very flimsy top. It usually leaks water you you pour it, even using a hand to hold the top in place while holding the pitcher handle with the other hand .If you pour with one hand, expect a puddle of water.

And more leaking when you refill it.

So in all, the water is good and inexpensive (and thus a lot better than wasteful, planet-damaging oil-intensive bottled water), but the product design is pretty poor.

 "I tried it and I don't like it." 2009-06-16
By S. Helbig
It was cheap enough to try, but .. I followed the instructions exactly. Washed plastic, soaked filter, threw away the first 2 container of filtered water. Then threw away a third. Then I made a fourth and tasted it. Ugh, Ugh, Ugh. Then I compared the taste to unfiltered tap water. The filtered water tasted awful, bitter and something else.

The taste of the filtered water is terrible and lasting. I am sucking on a strong peppermint to get the taste out of my mouth but the terrible taste still hangs in there.

This is a definite don't buy.

 "Small but well designed" 2009-07-05
By Marshall Fine (New Jersey)
This is one of the smaller Brita pitchers. Every morning, after water for the cat, the dog, and my pills, it needs a refill. The great part is, no need to remove the top to add water. A small section of the lid tilts up for refills. No fingerprints, no smudges, no problems. It is small enough to fit anywhere in the refrigerator, door or shelf. Who cares about continuous refills is you don't have to remove the lid and then clean the mess.

Also a really easy to use calendar to keep track of 8 weeks between filter changes.

I couldn't be happier with the Brita pitcher. The space saving design works well for me. The pitcher itself works just as described, water tastes great.

I spent way too much money having 'spring' water delivered to my house but no more. The Brita pitcher is convenient and easy to use and I'm saving money in the process.

"Works Well, But is Very Small" 2009-07-02
By C. Harmon
I got this product after finding out I was pregnant and would be driking a lot more water than usual. I currently fill a 32 oz. water bottle for work and then fill it again after work. One time of filling up my water bottle, I have to refill the pitcher. If you fill up the filtered section, you have two options. You can either wait until it all filters and then complete filling up the pitcher. Or, you can fill up the filtered part and put it back in the fridge, BUT you run out almost every time you pour.

I think the water tastes great and it really is amazing the difference it has made. But, if I could do it over, I would get a bigger pitcher. The filter takes up too much room inside the pitcher.

 "Better than nothing" 2009-07-09
By vfsandman (Los Angeles, CA)
Bottled water still tastes better, but the filter makes water straight from the tap drinkable. Running straight from the tap, we could smell the cholorine in the water. With the filter, it's hard to notice it so I believe it is definitely working. I still haven't gotten used to the taste yet, but filling the water in a pitcher and adding a piece of binchon charcoal or a lemon wedge is sufficient.

 "Faucet filter review" 2009-06-30
By Thomas A. Johnson (Pomeroy, OH USA)
What Culligan has made available to consumers, at minimal expense, is an effective alternative to an overall, more-involved and complete--and far more expensive!--H2O softening system. Granted: a complete system is more efficient and desireable by far, since it will accommodate the whole house. However, for great tasting drinking water--again @ minimal expense--this is the way to go. Be advised, however: you'll be replacing the cartridge every few months!

 "Worthless" 2009-06-26
By Cynthia A. Letellier (USA)
I love the size of this unit and the way it operates, but it does not filter the water. I tried this because the PUR units I've been using were developing leaks very soon after purchase. However, I'd rather spend money replacing PURs than purchasing an item like this that does not do a decent job filtering the water. The main thing I have to contend with is the chlorine taste and altho the filters say they remove chlorine, they do not.

I wrote to PUR advising them of the trouble I've been having with their units. They sent me a certificate for a free unit so after having this Culligan unit on for about a week I went and got my free PUR and put it on.

I also wrote to Culligan and their attitude was pretty much "tough luck." These units and the filters are much less expensive than PURs but they aren't worth their small cost for me because they don't work on chlorine.

"The best water filters around" 2009-06-13
By Green Iguana (CA)
I've used so many water filter systems for my faucet and these seem to be the only ones that work and last. Culligan is a good brand and builds very durable systems. What makes these filters really great is when it's time to change them, they just drop out from under the filters system, leaving no weird grease like fungus or growth that would occur with my other faucet filter systems. You just unscrew these filters to dispose and screw to replace.
