Bottled water still tastes better, but the filter makes water straight from the tap drinkable. Running straight from the tap, we could smell the cholorine in the water. With the filter, it's hard to notice it so I believe it is definitely working. I still haven't gotten used to the taste yet, but filling the water in a pitcher and adding a piece of binchon charcoal or a lemon wedge is sufficient.

What Culligan has made available to consumers, at minimal expense, is an effective alternative to an overall, more-involved and complete--and far more expensive!--H2O softening system. Granted: a complete system is more efficient and desireable by far, since it will accommodate the whole house. However, for great tasting drinking water--again @ minimal expense--this is the way to go. Be advised, however: you'll be replacing the cartridge every few months!

I love the size of this unit and the way it operates, but it does not filter the water. I tried this because the PUR units I've been using were developing leaks very soon after purchase. However, I'd rather spend money replacing PURs than purchasing an item like this that does not do a decent job filtering the water. The main thing I have to contend with is the chlorine taste and altho the filters say they remove chlorine, they do not.
I wrote to PUR advising them of the trouble I've been having with their units. They sent me a certificate for a free unit so after having this Culligan unit on for about a week I went and got my free PUR and put it on.
I also wrote to Culligan and their attitude was pretty much "tough luck." These units and the filters are much less expensive than PURs but they aren't worth their small cost for me because they don't work on chlorine.

I've used so many water filter systems for my faucet and these seem to be the only ones that work and last. Culligan is a good brand and builds very durable systems. What makes these filters really great is when it's time to change them, they just drop out from under the filters system, leaving no weird grease like fungus or growth that would occur with my other faucet filter systems. You just unscrew these filters to dispose and screw to replace.

Great Product. This is the best system for the price. I did a before and after taste test and could tell a big difference.
