 "It's true" 2009-07-19
By Peekablue (Missouri, USA)
I've been struggling with dry hair for a year or more. I was even using expensive salon shampoos and conditioners to no avail. Last fall, I had ordered a Culligan FM-15A Faucet Filter for my kitchen sink because I was concerned about our water quality. I've been very pleased with that product. Then, I figured that if the water was bad to drink, it was probably not so good to be bathing/showering in.

I ordered this product based on all the great reviews I had read. It was incredibly easy to install and it looks very nice. The water pressure is great. Within a week or two, I started noticing that my skin and hair are much softer to the touch. I always have a rough, dry left elbow beccause I have a lot of scar tissue there but after using this filter, it feels just like the rest of my skin. My hair is much healthier looking and easier to manage. I have fewer fly-aways and I'm not seeing as much hair come out in the shower.

I will eventually be ordering the Culligan HSH-C135 Hand-Held Filtered Showerhead 10,000-Gallon Capacity with 5-Foot Metal Hose, Chrome Finish to use for bathing my dogs since I have noticed that they seem to have dry skin, as well.

 "Works ok...." 2009-06-21

When using the filtered option the water pressure is barely adequate and has a small spray radius.

I had to use teflon tape and pipe dope when I installed it even though it has a rubber washer. This is a flaw with the thread cut. Not a big deal but they might as well not install the rubber washer if they aren't going to cut the threads deep enough. I'm picky though because I am a plumber by trade.

On the upside I did notice a difference with my skin and hair after using this shower head. In hindsight though I think I should have splurged for an inline filter.

 "It's a showerhead. It works" 2009-06-17

I've been using this for about three weeks now. My skin has improved. Not dramatically. It's still dry but I notice less flakiness. I don't like the massage spray setting. Makes me feel like I'm being pummeled. Two of the settings seem the same to me. I use one of them. I disagree that the spray isn't wide enough. It's as wide as a normal showerhead.

It was very easy to install with the enclosed teflon tape. You only need about 1/4 of what's supplied and just hand tighten it for no leaks. If you must use pliers definitely use a rag to keep from marring the plastic finish. There was nothing in my instruction book that said to remove the stickers on the filter before installing but it's kind of a no-brainer to remove them.

They only thing that bothers me is that it does not seem even close to a low-flow or water saving device. I think it uses more water than my last one, and that wasn't supposed to be a low-flow head. I'd like it to be more eco-friendly but the main reason I got it is for dry skin and it seems to be helping that. I'll just stick to short showers.

"Just not doing the job" 2009-06-16
By Midwest Runner
I have had a couple different water filters, and I had to find one that was self-contained and wouldn't break off (to suit my husband, who kept breaking them). After using this filter for about a month, my hair and skin are drier than ever, hair is unmanageable, and zits are popping up on my face again. I'm on the lookout for a different one immediately.

"Not needed if you have soft water" 2009-06-10
By Beno (Naperville, IL USA)
Shower head is okay but the filter is basically a miniature water softener. If you have soft water you do not really receive all of the benefits of this device. Water pressure is a little less than desirable.
